Indian hotels are required to install CCTV cameras at all entry/exit points, lobbies, corridors, and parking areas under the Hotel Security Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Additional requirements include: electronic door lock systems (key card access), perimeter security systems, fire alarm integration, and 24-hour security personnel. 5-star hotels also deploy access control at back-of-house areas, server rooms, and staff entry points.

RFID key card locks are the standard for mid-scale to luxury hotels in India — compatible with PMS software, allows instant rekey on guest checkout, audit trail of room access. Budget properties use mechanical key locks or PIN-based digital locks. For premium properties, mobile-key systems (BLE Bluetooth locks integrated with the hotel app) are increasingly adopted. Planning guidelines recommend: one camera per entrance/exit, one per lift lobby per floor, one per 15 metres of corridor, one per parking space per 20 spaces, and 2–3 cameras per lobby depending on size. A 50-room hotel typically needs 30–50 cameras minimum. IP cameras with 2MP–4MP resolution and 30-day recording retention are the minimum standard.
